Looks like the hard work that goes into the afterschool programs and other substance abuse prevention programs just might be paying off.According to the "2005 National Survey on Drug Use and Health," whose publication by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS') Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration was announced earlier this month on JUVJUST, illicit drug use among youth ages 12-17 continues to decline.
According to the survey, the rate of the use of drugs in the past month by youth in that age category has decreased from 11.6 percent in 2002 to 11.2 percent in 2003, 10.6 percent in 2004, and 9.9 percent in 2005.
