Teen Prescription Drug Abuse

The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) has published "Teens and Prescription Drugs: An Analysis of Recent Trends on the Emerging Drug Threat."

This is an easy to read overview of the trend toward prescription drug-abuse among young teens. No solutions, just information.

Recent studies and reports indicate that the intentional abuse by adolescents of such prescription drugs as pain relievers, tranquilizers, stimulants, and sedatives is a growing concern. The ONDCP report examines this emerging threat, which has seen the number of new abusers of prescription drugs, age 12–17, match the figure for marijuana.

First thing first need to stop Drug abuse by teenagers. It's necessary for proper authority to look after the issue for teens. Otherwise one day it will be really hard to stop teen drug abuse. With authority we also need to step up and fight against drug abuse.

I'm a social work major working on a project about teenage drug abuse. In my efforts to find information I stumbled across your blog and was surprised at what I found on a site about drug abuse. I just wanted you to be aware that the photo on your blog, of what I'm assuming is supposed to be a drug dealer, is actually a Mormon missionary. Mormonism is a Christian religion that,in case you were unaware, preaches to abstain from drugs, alcohol, Tobacco and even coffee and Tea. That picture seems inapropriate in the context and is offensive to some.

danerin,
Thanks for your feedback. I chose the photo from Creative Commons because I thought it looked like a teacher or other caring adult counseling a junior high school student. I have removed it.
